An introduction to the Ingredients

SAVLIV Drops, prepared out of a traditional herbo mineral recipe, is a fast acting powerful hepatic stimulant. It increases the functional capacity of liver, accelerates cellular metabolic activity and promotes regeneration. It has been reported to bring remarkable improvement in appetite within 15-30 minutes of its administration, gain in body weight and enhanced feeling of well-being in the management of malnutrition. The traditional drug is used as corrective and curative for enlarged and fatty liver. The ingredients of SAVLIV are in use since the days of Charaka and Sushruta (2000BC) and the synergistic combination of these ingredients have made the formulation remarkably effective. Ingredients of SAVLIV

SAVLIV is prepared out of three ingredients; namely Key Lime (Citrus Medica), Sarjika (Salsola Kali Linn) and Varat (Cypraea Moneta). These ingredients have been used in Ayurvedic medicines since ancient times by different methods and have proved their medicinal values. The properties of each are as under:-

Key Lime (Citrus Medica)

Chemical constituents.

  • Citric acid, sulphuric acid, glucose, volatile oils, potassium, calcium, Phosphatidic Acid, Citrate Protein, Fat Carbohydrate, Vitamin C, alkaloids, flavonoids, phenols, carbohydrates, steroids, glycosides and mucilage.

Therapeutic uses.

  • Appetizer, antiseptic, Antiscorbutic, stomachic, cardiac tonic, stimulant, sedative, analgesic and used in dyspepsia, bilious vomiting, cold, fever, palpitation, sore throat, cough, asthma and cough.
  • Analgesic, antispasmodic and used in diarrhea, piles and constipation; seeds are anthelmintic, stomachic, sedative, cardiac tonic and useful in palpitation
  • Astringent and used in blood disorders and peels are anthelmintic.
  • Antioxidant activity, antidote of every kind of poison.    

Varat (Cypraea Moneta)

Chemical constituents.

  • Calcium, magnesium, potassium, aluminium, sodium, manganese, iron, sodium chloride and zinc.

Therapeutic uses.                           

  • Ash Jaundice (Kamala), fever, expectorant, dyspesia, enlarged spleen and liver, asthma, cough, colic and skin diseases.

Sarjika (Salsola Kali Linn)

Chemical constituents.

  • Isochinolin alkaloids, salsolin, salsolidin, rutin, rhamnitin, quercitin, kampferol. It also contains lot of mineral salts such as potassium, calcium, manganese, aluminium, iron.

 Therapeutic Uses.

  • Decreasing blood pressure
  • Hypertonia
  • Antihelminthic, purgative, diuretic.

SAVLIV : a Synergistic Combination

SAVLIV is a synergistic combination of above ingredients. As it is evident from above details that each ingredient of the formulation has high medicinal values and thus a synergistic combination of these ingredients has remarkable results in managing liver disorders. This traditional recipe has proved to be a boon to the patients with liver ailments, either viral or toxicity of antibiotics, alcohol and other synthetic drugs.
